Graham Eccles became chairman of Virgin Care in March 2010 and has a vastly experienced background spanning nearly 49 years of operating, managing and directing Britain’s railways. Having joined British Rail as a lad porter in 1962, Graham’s first major appointment came during the privatisation of the railways in the early 1990s when he became the managing director of one of British Rail’s new subsidiary train operating companies, Network SouthCentral. In 1996, Graham took a role as rail business manager with Stagecoach Group plc, working on global business acquisitions before returning to the railway industry as a managing director of South West Trains in December 1998. Graham was appointed to the main board of Stagecoach Group in 2000 and subsequently served on a number of subsidiary boards as director, chairman and co-chairman, including Virgin Trains and Trainline dot com, another Virgin company.
Michael Medlicott is non-executive director to the Virgin Care Board and was appointed in December 2015. Michael was previously a non-executive member of the Civil Aviation Authority board. He has many years’ experience of the transport and tourism sectors including a senior management position at Delta Airlines and was Chief Executive of the British Tourist Authority. Michael sat on the Board of Manchester Airports Group from 2002 until joining the Board the CAA. He is currently Senior Non-Executive Director of OCS Group Ltd and Chairman of Myriad Holdco Ltd.
Dr Vivienne McVey
Chief Executive Officer
One of the founders of the business, Dr McVey qualified in medicine at the University of Cambridge and she began her career in 1986 as a GP in London and Beaconsfield. She went on to become chair of the Professional Executive Committee of her PCT, a front runner in developing practice based commissioning and new ways of delivering health services in the community. Vivienne has overseen the growth of Virgin Care since it began and has most recently led our national transformation programme. Dr McVey has been a member of the Virgin Healthcare Holdings board since 2011.
Chief Financial Officer
Lynne is a fellow of the institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, having trained with KPMG. Lynne was previously Global Finance Director of Christie’s, the international art auction house and has held a variety of senior finance and management roles at Centrica Plc, Goldfish Bank plc and Alliance and Leicester plc. Lynne is an independent member of the Audit and Risk Committee of the Department of Work and Pensions and a member of the Women’s Development Board of the Microloan foundation, a UK charity aimed at alleviating poverty in sub-Saharan Africa.
Anita is a non-executive director to the Virgin Care Board and Legal Director at the Virgin Group. She has been with Virgin since 2008 and is responsible for protecting and enhancing Virgin’s portfolio and reputation by advising on a broad range of strategic matters. Prior to joining Virgin, Anita worked as a corporate lawyer at Herbert Smith Freehills.
Caroline Ng is a non-executive director to the Virgin Care Board and a managing director of investments at the Virgin Group. Caroline joined Virgin in 2009 and is responsible for investment execution and portfolio management. Her current board positions include Virgin Active and Virgin Care. Prior to joining the Virgin Group, Caroline worked in M&A at Goldman Sachs and prior to that as a consultant at OC&C Strategy Consultants.
