New parents and carers in Lancashire are being given the opportunity to receive support at face-to-face clinics once again.
Our Lancashire Healthy Young People and Families Service, which runs health visiting and school nursing services on behalf of Lancashire County Council, has launched a series of Child Health Clinics, giving an opportunity for parents and carers with any concerns about their baby to receive some face-to-face support from health visitors.
Michelle Lee, our Managing Director in Lancashire, said: “Some of our face-to-face contacts, including baby clinics, were suspended at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic last year in line with national guidance, so we’re delighted to be able to reintroduce a new series of sessions that have been adapted to keep families and our staff as safe as possible.
“Over the past few months we’ve introduced alternative ways of keeping in touch with families. Our virtual groups have been really successful and these will remain in place for those parents and carers who prefer to communicate with us in this way. It’s all about giving families more choice in how they access our services.”
County Councillor Shaun Turner, Lancashire County Council’s cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said: “It’s great that parents can go to face-to-face baby clinics once again. There are measures in place to ensure these sessions are Covid-19 safe in line with Government guidelines. The face-to-face clinics give parents another option alongside the virtual appointments on offer.”
Access to the Child Health Clinics is by appointment only. Parents and carers can access appointments via their health visitor, or by contacting the Single Point of Access on 0300 247 0040 / firstname.lastname@example.org to be triaged.
